The fort was double-purpose, a defensive fort and a summer retreat for the ruling family. It had three outer watchtowers built for it to increase its security. They offered wide surveillance and added protection for nearby settlements and farmlands.
The fort began undergoing restoration in 2009, with work completed by 2015. Before that, parts of the towers had been restored in 2007 and the traditional bath house was revived in 2014.
